Things are on the up for Bowmore. That might sound like a strange thing to say about a distillery that has been producing whisky since 1779. A distillery which also has a long and well established reputation as one of Islay’s foremost producers. The reason? Simply put, after a few years during which it released some slightly anonymous and poorly received entry level expressions, Bowmore started putting out great new whiskies again.
The most notable of these is probably the “Tempest” range of small batch whiskies which have exemplified all that is good about Bowmore. If things carry on in that vein, this ancient distillery will continue to be one to watch for new and exciting whisky.
